Hi, I’m Kristen!
I'm the travel happy, confirmed foodie behind Dish + Delish. Welcome to food from my kitchen, restaurants we try, our on the road travels and yeah, stories about our blended family of 5 teens.
I’m a semi-newlywed, having gotten remarried a couple years ago to everyone's favorite funny man, Todd. He's a stellar husband who makes me laugh at least once every day. He'll be chiming in from time to time as he feels the urge, he's got a confirmed fan club just from his Facebook and Twitter posts, and sometimes he's just got to let it out.
We've made a blended family of 7, my 2 teenagers and his 3 teenagers. 3 of our 5 are away at college, #4 is in the Marines and yet our house is always bursting with teens and their friends who bunk down with us on the holidays.
I have a lot of experience cooking for a multitude of palates, including my son's recent conversion to vegan. However, they all have one thing in common, big appetites. Bottomless pits make a wonderful testing ground! I always tell them they're free to critique because ultimately I want them to always love my food, and that's how I show them I love them, by cooking for them.
I started this blog because, like most bloggers, I wanted an easy way to track and share favorite recipes with family and friends. I’m exceptionally organized (I’ll be introducing you to my infamous Recipe Binders shortly!) and I realized that the lists and charts I was keeping on my recipes could help others in the kitchen, too.
On D+D you’ll find recipes, of course, but also restaurant and travel reviews and lifestyle (daily life) excerpts. You’ll definitely find me sneaking in organizational ideas (and couponing! I have 5 kids, let's save money!!!) as well. I love nothing more than making a pantry work for its owner or sharing my recipe organization or couponing planning ideas.
Todd and I also spend an extraordinary amount of time cheering our kids on at games (football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, softball), so you’ll see a lot of sports-oriented food and gathering ideas. Grab a cup of coffee and join us!
