It’s the first Friday Favorites post of 2017 and today we’re talking about my favorite Origins mask.   Hooray for the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask for making the cut.

Friday Faves Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - My first Friday shout out of the new year goes to this creamy, hydrating Origins mask that keeps my skin from feeling tight after fighting the winter cold every day.

I’m sitting here writing this post, clean-faced, with my Origins Overnight Mask on while Todd watches Legends of the Fall on Netflix.  Charlotte and the surrounding towns are excitedly looking out the window at our first snowfall of they year, they’ve promised us at least 6″, a huge deal down south.  We’re looking forward to closing all our schools on Monday if possible, and as many businesses as we can over the weekend.

Everyone I know is excited to hunker up over the weekend making soup or chili or other traditional snowy day meals. I’ve got my {famous} loaded potato soup ingredients sitting on the counter waiting for me for tomorrow. One of the best things about living here in North Carolina is that we get all four seasons but they’re really, really mild. (My father-in-law just texted me about -77 degree windchills in Wyoming last night!)  So when we get our one-or-so snowfalls a year we like to get really excited, but we’ll good-naturedly make fun of ourselves about it, too.

Back to my Origins Mask.  I’m one of those people whose skin really feels the effects of cold weather, especially on my hands and face.  I received a sample of this Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask from Sephora last winter and tried it out one evening before bed.  I assumed, obviously, that it would be an overnight “mask” and I’d wash it off the next morning.  Instead, I find it to be a really intensive “leave-on” mask.  So I find myself using it about 5 nights a week after cleansing when the weather is cold like this.

I do my normal cleansing ritual which starts with my Clarisonic cleansing brush which I’ve been using for over 5 years.  I use my current cleanser with the brush (I haven’t found my perfect cleanser yet, any suggestions?) and follow with toner and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair (hey, I’m almost 50, gotta take care of my skin!).  Most nights during the winter the moisturizer I reach for is this Origins mask.  I put on a generous amount and rub in well and if there’s any left on my hands I usually rub across the backs of my hands because they get chapped so easily.

The selling point to me is this rich, hydrating formula that my skin just completely drinks up (just like the name says, ha ha). It leaves my skin soft and helps it regain all the moisture it loses once colder weather starts to set in.  It’s a little thick as it comes out of the tube but it sinks like velvet right into my skin, and it doesn’t leave a greasy film behind.   It feels good and it does my skin good, too.

I’ve noticed that with regular use my skin has lost that tightness that I hate so much, when my skin feels tight on my face during the day.  Even when I look in the magnifying mirror it looks plumped and clean, not drawn and tight and chapped.  I will say though that I’m not completely in love with the smell of this mask, it’s “fine”, it’s just not it’s best selling point.

Overall, in the winter, Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is definitely one of my faves and has earned it’s spot as the first Friday Fave for 2017.  I reach for it a LOT and I can feel the difference when I don’t.  It’s available from Sephora in a one-time trial size for $4, a 1.7 oz size  or my favorite, the 3.4 oz size.  Give it a try and see if it doesn’t help your winter skin as well as it helps mine.

Comment below and let me know what you think after you try!  Do you like it?  Do you have another holy grail facial moisturizer? Or tag#ttottblog on Instagram with your clean, fresh face and lemme see your glow!

Fondly, Kristen
